Air Show (Aurora)You may think that the classifieds are obsolete now, but that isn’t true. Most paper classifieds are also online, and there are many free online classified sites.  If you don’t have a website or an email list, classifieds are the way to go.

How To Make Money Online Without A Website Or A List: Classified Advertising

By: Jinger Jarrett

Classified advertising is probably one of the oldest ways to market online. Although it’s not always as effective as it once was, it’s still an effective way to market your business online.

The reason is that it is a form of marketing that most people are familiar with. For those new to the internet, it’s an easy way to find things. For those who want to sell, it’s an easy marketing technique.

If you’re new to internet marketing, or you don’t have any money to spend on marketing, classified advertising is the best place to start. It’s easy to learn how to write ads, and there are plenty of free classified ad sites that will allow you to post ads.

Before you post any ads though, here’s a few things to help you make more money from this technique:

1. Choose low cost products to market.

It’s a lot easier to sell low ticket items on classified ad sites than it is high ticket items. If you plan to use classified sites to drive traffic for your high ticket items, then it’s a good idea to create some type of freebie to draw traffic to your site.

Don’t offer your product in the ad. Offer the freebie. Give visitors a reason to visit your site.

2. If possible, optimize your ads for the search engines.

When you’re writing your ads it’s a good idea to write them with the search engines in mind. Try to include your keywords in your ads if possible.

Many classified ad sites, especially free ones, do really well in the search engines. You can easily increase the traffic to your ad by considering the keywords.

3. Try offering physical products too.

Top classified sites like Craig’s List offer just about everything. Just as shoppers may shop auctions to find bargains, classified ad sites are another place to look for bargains.

The best part of offering what you sell through classifieds is that it won’t cost you anything.

4. Write as many ads as you can and post them.

The more ads you write, the more chances you have to make conversions, get traffic, and get sales. Many of these classified ad sites also allow you to renew your ads so you don’t have to retype them.

5. Post ads consistently.

As I mentioned before, many of these sites allow you to renew your ads without reposting them. This will save you a lot of time and help you get your ads out more quickly.

Don’t just renew your ads though. Post more ads and try to do a certain number of ads each day. More ads equal more traffic and ultimately more sales.

There are a lot of Internet Marketing Gurus out there and Howie Schwartz is one of them.  I have learned a few things from him and wanted to share this article about some of the things he does.

How IM Remarkable Guru Howie Schwartz Dominates Page One of Google Rankings!

By Jack Harold

Howie Schwartz is a top class internet marketer. His techniques are really out of this world as he will tell you that he will enter a niche market like no one else and sweep all competition aside. That is what you would call an “Aggressive Marketer”. Diversification is also very important to him and, he and his team work in a lot of niche areas under different pen names.

He is opening up a new course called IM Remarkable and I think you should take notice of! The link to the course is right at the bottom of this article.

His main technique is called “conversation domination” and Howie Schwartz feels it was the first comprehensive training program to take Web 2.0 properties and social media and really use it to push forward traffic and try to dominate Google. The name came from the fact that all of marketing is a conversation. The days of one-way, passive, marketing are dead. We need to move from mass advertising to one-on-one personalized advertising and try to create conversation and communities within our prospects and customers.

Howie Schwartz strongly recommends the stuff that Seth Godan has written. In essence, “conversations” are happening all around us online and when we can identify an active conversation in our niche, when we participate in the conversation and when we dominate the conversation.

We have the opportunity to become the authority and leading brand in the market – it is all whether we deserve to be or not.

The many reasons that online entrepreneurs fail are that they have the incorrect mindset. One must believe you have the opportunity to be successful with any traffic strategy or niche market. Other root causes of failures include lack of focus, hopping around in too many niches, hopping around from traffic strategy to strategy and not giving anything much of a chance to be successful.

There are some stuff that Howie Schwartz mentioned that we need to take special note of. He was saying in one his courses that we should never tap into the “consistency” that is necessary in this competitive

market. We should find a conversation worth dominating. Find people that care about – and will spend money on – the conversation topic. People are more likely to make a buying decision on something they are passionate about. Follow the trends. Right now, people are buying things they think they “need” and not necessarily things they “want”.

In his new course called IM Remarkable or simply Internet Marketing Remarkable, a new concept is unraveled by him in that it is entirely designed to simply assist people to get “UNSTUCK”, and find the best way for them to make money consistently online. It is not about learning the secrets of Howie Schwartz. It is not about learning the secrets of other big-name internet marketers.

Howie believes that for someone to succeed, that person needs to “Unlock His Very Own Secrets”.

I have been posting several articles that relate to marketing in 2010.  I want to help people become aware of what is currently working and what experts believe is going to be the most important marketing mediums.  Be reading from a variety of sources you can see the common elements.

This is another such post that I agree with  take these predictions to heart and apply them to your business to make 2010 the best year you have had.

10 Marketing Predictions for 2010

Here’s my annual list of what to expect, marketing-wise, in the upcoming 12 months. Time will tell how accurate these are, although my 2009 list was fairly spot-on:

#10) Mobile advertising will still NOT flourish in North America in 2010. However, if the Google mobile phone becomes a hit it could make a late-year run and enter 2011 with great momentum.

#9) The web will continue to grow and play an even more important role in great, measurable marketing. Websites that create relevance, with smart use of microsites, and also help develop a dialog, will reign supreme. One-way websites will be viewed as antiquated and ineffective; YouTube will grow in its importance for traditional TV-based advertisers (:30 second commercials will decline greatly). Google Analytics will continue to gain users and importance.

#8) Wal-Mart’s attempt to compete with Amazon will prove to be a failure.

#7) E-mail will lose more popularity to social media but will be even more important as a customer retention and communication tool.

#6) Printed matter – newspapers and magazines – will continue to struggle and more of them will switch to online only editions than ever before.

#5) Direct mail will see a resurgence as data becomes better, more accurate and more segmentable than ever before. While mail volume will not increase, its role as an impactful, door-opening media will grow and its use as a powerful follow-up medium will increase. Those that do mail really well and commit to the channel will prosper as they will face less clutter in mailboxes.    –more

SAN FRANCISCO - MARCH 10: Twitter co-founder ...

There is a debate going as to how effective twitter can be for your business. It starts with getting followers.  If you have followers than you will be more likely to drive traffic to your site which should increase  your revenue.  Here is an article about how to get more followers in twitter.

How to Cheat Twitter and Get More Followers

I’m going to save you at least $20-$200 today. I’m going to tell you the “secret” that so many websites with extremely long copy and bogus “complete online marketing strategies” will charge you for, with, shall we say, notes.

Many, but not all, of the “Social Media Experts” (see an interesting post that’s all the buzz by Mashable on the fact there’s over 15,000 of them) as well as other online pitch people will have tens of thousands of followers – and yet Tweet inane crap and rarely if ever conversate – or they use this technique, stop it once they’ve hit critical mass (5k, 10k followers), then play dumb and change their stripes.

We don’t use this procedure, have not used this, but I’ve seen it done and we’ve been asked by former clients to do it. To be clear, if we can’t set them on the right path, we fire them at that point. This is what many social media agencies assign to their interns to do, or you can do at home yourself.

Here’s how to get your useless Twitter followers:

Step 1: Follow People, 30-50 At A Time
Start following lots of people. But only so many in a day – 30, 40, 50, depending on how finnicky Twitter’s spam bots are – and then wait for a day or three. Many times, you can use keywords to semi-focus yourself (though they rarely work well because of context) or use the cover of the #FollowFriday or one of the top trending hashtags for this. Sometimes, people push it and go into the hundreds – I’ve seen it work, but to Twitters’ credit, they’re getting better at stopping this.    –more

My Biggest Secret To Success in Internet Marketing

When you think of doing Internet Marketing or making money online, you can find thousands of blogs, forums and various options to do it. There are lot of Internet Marketing gurus who teach how to make money online. I would say that at least 80% of these Internet Marketing gurus make money by teaching people how to make money online. Lot of newbies end up spending time and money behind such ideas and end in giving up with no success.

I personally have been in this group of newbies where I have followed forums, blogs, bought a few services, ebooks etc. These things have worked a bit for me but it has never been outstanding. The only thing that I has worked for me and which I believe is my secret to success is doing what YOU feel is right. My biggest income generating idea was implemented by me 6 months after the idea came to my mind. This thing now easily earns me around $2K per month. This means I have lost around 10K-12K by not implementing what I had in my mind 6 months ago. Why I did not do it? Because out of those thousand forums and ebooks, no one ever talked about this idea of mine. I felt that this won’t work for me and hence I kept on delaying the implementation.    –more

Email List Building Strategy

By Dhruv Patel

Shrewd online marketers are well aware of the fact that by proper administration of correct strategies of email list building, sound business can be yielded in the world of internet. It is one of the major techniques of marketing. The responses to the web mails are quick, crisp and to the point, and virtually costless. It has got huge potential to reap in massive monetary gains. The foremost point to be kept in mind is the details of the promotion of a particular product or service. There are numerous choices ranging from pay per click to building blogs. But the aspect of list building is something special and needs to be appreciated for its results.

At present, several online entrepreneurs are stressing on email list building. Application of such a marketing strategy broadens huge space to market your products and services to massive pools of customers. It is vital to know that you need perseverance, and creativity and acute commercial sense in order to fructify this market strategy of list building optimally in order to gain considerable profits. It is necessary to keep on trying and putting effort as the results will not be on the boar overnight. Hard work and sincere endeavors will help you to attain success in this sphere.

It is beyond doubt that list building is the most efficient marketing strategy of the goods and services on the internet. It is also easy to perform and apparently hassle free. The first step essentially involves collection of email addresses. You need to go out in the big world of internet and try utmost to collect the mail ids of various people from different sources. It is the initial stepping stone for the purpose of email list building. Though this is an easy task, but you need to work in an exhaustive manner on this.

To fulfill the objective of list building, one of the options that are often adopted is known as a sort of technical bribe. It can be in the form of a cost free digital product. That can be something like a membership free of cost, or a considerable bonus. When the common mass will get to know that the value provided by you via your products and services is worth giving their mail ids, they will do so. This is the basic way by which email list building is done.

But a significant point to be kept in mind is securing the privacy of the mail ids collected by you. No prospective customer, and for that matter no person, would like his or her mail id to be tinkered, otherwise you can land up with unnecessary legal problems.

Moreover, it is not wise to constantly pester your customers with promotional deals, The result can be opposite. They may become irritated and unsubscribe from your services that will harm your commercial objectives.

Hence, email list building, although a lucrative marketing tool, must be put into proper application so that both your and the customers’ interests are taken care of.

Internet marketing has many different aspects that can be mastered. One of the most important of those is keyword research. These articles cover some techniques to keyword research.

Internet Marketing Is Easy

Internet marketing is easy!  At least that is what the gurus try to tell you. There is one particular strategy that many of the top Internet marketers teach and that has to do with finding keywords.

The strategy goes something like this:

Find keywords that are searched about 10,000-30,000 times a month on Google’s keyword tool.

Use those keywords as article titles or domain names.

Then get thousands of visitors to your site for free.

That sounds simple enough doesn’t it? It isn’t as simple as that and I’ll show you why.

I’ll walk through the system of finding keywords they use. You want to look for a niche that isn’t overly commercialized like weight loss or make money in the next 5 minutes.    –more

Niche Discovery Tactics Gurus Don’t Teach But Use Themselves

Every internet marketer knows the importance of discovering good and profitable niches. Many internet marketing gurus have a very simplistic way of teaching about niche discovery. The sum total of some gurus’ teaching on this can be summarized as:

1. Choose a topic that you like, have experience or are interested in.

2. Take the main keyword from this topic and plug it into a keyword research tool.

3. Look at the search count. If it is about 30,000 per month, it’s a good niche. If it is below 30,000 searches, there is very little market and therefore it is not a good niche. If it is way above 30,000 searches, there is probably too much competition and therefore it is risky to enter this niche market.

That’s it. Based on those three steps, you are supposed to find a niche. What’s wrong with such a teaching?

Firstly, there is no research into the competition. No step is taken to discover how strong a competition you face in that niche.   –more

10 Worst Marketing Blunders of 2009

NBC has joined the immortals of marketing stupidity. This year the molting peacock network and president Jeff “Have They Fired Me Yet?” Zucker decided to turn five of the primest pieces of prime-time real estate — the hour between 10 and 11 PM from Monday through Friday — into the Jay Leno hour.

The result? A 28% drop in viewership (through mid-November). This has not only killed network revenues but done in affiliates who have no lead-in for their late news casts.

Despite this, Jeff “10% Of Americans Are Unemployed and I’m Not?” Zucker recently said that all is going according to plan. “Right now, in terms of its performance on the television network, at NBC, in terms of ratings it’s doing exactly what we thought it would do.” Comcast recently bought NBC in what must have been an attempt to copy the government’s cash for clunkers program. Comcast shareholders can now only they are being lied to. The worst case scenario is that Mr. Z believes what he is saying.   –more

With 2010 coming upon us it is important to know where Internet marketing is heading.  I thought his article covered some great tips to consider.

SES Chicago: Internet Marketing Tips for 2010

Here we are near the end of 2009 and at the last Search Engine Strategies conference of the year.  While many conferences are down in attendance, SES Chicago actually beat last year’s numbers by about 100, according to Matt McGowan, VP, Publisher & Head of US at Incisive Media, the company that owns SES.

There are many ways to get value from attending a conference but one that is especially important, and often overlooked, is the ability to connect with industry thought leaders and ask important questions.

While roaming the sessions, exhibit hall and networking events at SES Chicago, I did just that and decided to use my trusty iPhone 3GS to capture some insights on what marketers should be focusing on or considering in 2010.  –more
